Trivandrum: Dr Manish Thaplyal has assumed the position of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Thiruvananthapuram Division in Southern Railway, effective from 08th January 2024. He succeeds Shri S M Sharma.
Dr Manish Thaplyal, an officer of the Indian Railway Services of Mechanical Engineering (IRSME) from the 1992 UPSC batch, brings a wealth of experience and a commendable track record within the Indian Railways. His illustrious career comprises key roles played as Executive Director (Wagon) at the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and Chief Mechanical Engineer (IR) at Northern Railway. His influence transcends railway operations, evidenced by his impactful stint as Group General Manager at Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR). He has played a pivotal role in the design of new wagons. His commitment to excellence has garnered various awards and recognitions throughout his distinguished career.
A Doctoral Degree(PhD) holder from IIT Kharagpur, he has a way of looking at things with a systems approach. His exceptional expertise and leadership qualities are anticipated to usher in a new era of efficiency, modernization, and heightened passenger satisfaction in one of Southern Railway’s crucial divisions.
